Greetings! My name is Alex West and I’m a filmmaker based in Charleston, South Carolina. I’m 25 years old, in great physical shape, and consider myself well immersed in the prime of my youth, with countless years of limitless potential ahead.
In all honesty, my job description varies, depending on the day of the week and the time of day.
Long story short, I write, direct & produce film, television, music videos, commercials, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are also times where I hop in front of the camera for acting or stunt roles.
As for hobbies, I train Mixed Martial Arts, CrossFit, surf, create hip hop tracks, and hit the occasional open mic night.
Primary areas of academic interest are in science, technology, and history.
Experience with Nootropics (Smart Drugs)
My experience with Nootropics is limited to one product that I was certain I’d enjoy because of the praise given to it by an idol of mine, Joe Rogan. For those who don’t know, Joe is a stand up comedian, MMA expert, and host of a hit podcast.
We agree on dozens of topics ranging from philosophical views to politics to fitness & nutrition. Joe’s got a financial stake in Onnit, a nutrition company devoted to “Total Human Optimization.”
They have a gang of what seem to be badass products, and Alpha Brain, a nootropic, is their figurehead supplement.
When it arrived, I started to keep a daily Alpha Brain journal. The desired effects included sharper mental focus, and enhanced dream state. It was advised to consume with a meal, and never exceed more than 4 capsules in a sitting, or a day for that matter.
Well, I got to popping some Alpha Brain, and after a few days, my opinion changed from hope to a lack thereof. It honestly did very little, if anything for me. I tried it at all different times of day, various states of mind, all at once, split into groups, etc. Nothing.
Now, I understand everyone is different and responds to certain chemicals individually. I’m a 6’4, 215lb male with a lot of muscle mass. I tend to have a high tolerance for everything.
But I remember vividly, one night I took 4 around dinner time & passed out within 45 minute. So much for focus. As a footnote, I heard on one of Joe Rogan’s recent podcasts that he takes FIVE at a time. First of all, now he’s blatantly admitting, that he takes MORE than the medically prescribed warning ON the bottle. And secondly, if it takes five pills at a time to feel an effect of something, there’s probably a more efficient way of inducing that effect. I stopped my journal after 10 days.
But I digress. Onnit offers a 30-day money back guarantee, and while I didn’t take them up on that offer, I respect the hell out of it. People react differently to various chemical combinations.
Maybe Alpha Brain’s not for me, or maybe it would take me 6 pills to get in the zone. Who knows? But, I got wind of Natural Stacks a few months ago and was offered the opportunity to try out a brand new Nootropic, called CILTEP.
I took it this morning for the first time on an empty stomach, and I don’t want to jump the gun, but it honestly worked instantaneously.
Again, it could’ve been an optimistic mental relation to a new product, aka my mind telling me that it’s working, but I really did feel something.
Not sure if it’s supposed to affect the system as fast as it did, but I had clear focus all morning. It’s been a very productive day, full of reading, writing, and planning for new projects.
Now I’m looking here at the CILTEP info, and it seems to have some beneficial ingredients. Hard to know for sure so early in this endeavor, but artichoke extract maybe the game changer.
I was also provided with Smart Caffeine, a focus & energy booster. I took that shortly after lunch and also felt a positive effect. This could have been enhanced because I am an avid coffee drinker, however, I could tell the difference between my normal black coffee alertness, and the Smart Caffeine effect.
I haven’t spent very long writing this article, and my thoughts are flowing freely, no mental lapses.
Now, before I wrote this, I wrote a 6-minute comedy act with ease. I’ve tweaked it, practiced it, and will be nailing open mic night in approximately 3-4 hours. Often times, the one coffee I drink around noon doesn’t always keep me going throughout the day like I have been. And if the CILTEP I took 8 hours ago is still in my system, then “Bravo!”
But if they’re not, then it’s clearly the Smart Caffeine that’s got me crushing work at the moment. I aim to experiment with both products, individually and in combination over the next several weeks, at various jobs and locations.
Today’s been more of a sit down, computer work, phone calls & emails type of day. I’m usually on my feet doing a wide range of activities.
To wrap it up, I’ll say again it’s perhaps too early to give the Natural Stacks products an honest and accurate review. However, after 1 day of use, I can say that they’re both products I would pay money for.
Hopefully the productivity they cause can translate into the quality of my work and income it generates. In 2 weeks I’m directing a thought-provoking short film to be submitted to major national film festivals.
You can guarantee I’ll have some CILTEP & Smart Caffeine in my system before yelling “ACTION!”
